The Dix Crisis Intervention Center is a behavioral health facility providing an alternative to Emergency Department drop-offs.
If the person in need of care is suicidal or exhibiting symptoms of substance abuse and/or mental illness, and is not in urgent need of medical intervention, First Responders may take them directly to the Center. There they are provided medication, group therapy, and individual services. The average length of stay 1-4 days. For those experiencing a mental health issue, the center is more appropriate than an emergency room. Mental Health providers are able to address concerns more quickly, and the patients' mental health and basic medical needs will be attended to in an environment that is safe and comfortable.
We aim to foster an environment that provides safe and effective treatment. Our guests are given access to community resources, assisted with scheduling after care appointments, applying for higher level of care treatment programs, and we follow up with our fellow community health providers to ensure continuity of care. Peer driven. Most staff have lived experience with either with mental health or drug addiction. A different kind of empathy. 16 beds.
